Center Of My Life
Nathan Best
Grammy-award winning vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Nathaniel Best (O Brother, Where Art Thou?; The O'Jays) debuts his first solo contemporary gospel album, Center Of My Life. After making his first recording at the age of five on "I Want Jesus To Walk With Me" on one his mother's albums on the Chess label, Nathan began touring with his family with the great quartets of the 60's and 70's (The Five Blind Boys, The Volinares, The Soul Stirrers, and others). At the age of twelve, he began playing piano for his Dad's church. He later sang for the Love Center Choir, under the leadership of his pastor, the late Bishop Walter Hawkins, before working with a number of other artists, joining the O'Jays in 1993 and the Fairfield Four in 2000 for their award-winning rendition of two songs in the hit comedy movie, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?".

I am so grateful to God for the opportunity and strength to bring this music to you. Life has taught me many valuable lessons, and they were all for my strengthening. Some lessons I thought would make me bitter, but instead it made me better, thanks to my relationship with God. As a result of it, I have chosen to live my life based on a quote made by Soren Kierkegaard, who said: Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forward. So when I look back at my lessons in life, I don't look at it to make me bitter. I look back at it to remind me that, as bad as some of those lessons we're,
I've got to thank a few people. I want to thank my mom (Dorothy Best) & my dad (Nathaniel Best Sr.) for believing in me when I was just a small boy. Also my wonderful step mom (Theresa). My step sisters: Myla, Rhina, also all of my nieces and nephews. Tracie, I know you're looking from heaven.
